No Danube Island date for Kerri

Injury rules out three-time champ

A right shoulder injury has meant three-time World Champion Kerri Walsh Jennings is out of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships presented by A1.

Kerri sustained the problem in the semifinal of the Olsztyn tournament last week, but partner Nicole Branagh will remain in the competition and will now play with Emily Day.

The new pair line-up in Pool A alongside Brazil’s Larissa/Talita, Bieneck/Schneider of Germany and Holzer/Strauss of Austria.

It will not be Day’s first championships – the 29-year-old earned a 17th place with Summer Ross in 2013 in Stare Jablonki in Poland.

The Californian arrives in the Austrian capital in good form having won an AVP tournament in Hermosa Beach last week with regular partner Brittany Hochevar.

Get well soon Kerri!
