Don’t miss these five on day six!

Mustn’t miss matches on Wednesday on the Danube Island

Olympic champions Alison/Bruno are aiming to make it three wins from three on WednesdayOlympic champions Alison/Bruno are aiming to make it three wins from three on Wednesday

Can you believe it? The second half of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships presented by A1 is already upon us!

But if you thought things were slowing down then think again, with another collection of exciting games set to hit the sand throughout the day on Wednesday.

Spoilt for choice, we’ve somehow narrowed it down to five which you just cannot miss.

Who? Alison/Bruno v Grimalt/Grimalt

Where? Side Court 2

When? 10.30am

Why? Calling all beach volleyball fans! The Olympic champions take to the court in just the second match of the day on day six.

Alison and Bruno have a 100 per cent winning record so far, but will they be able to defend it with the Grimalt cousins in town?

The Chileans also have a two matches from two and four sets from four record, with barely a point to separate them in the ratios so far.

It’s sure to be a classic, particularly with both teams bragging for the potentially all-important top spot.

Who? Dressler/Kunert v Williams/Philip

Where? Red Bull Beach Arena

When? 11.30am CET

Why? They’ve smiled their way through the tournament so far, but can Williams/Philip turn their delight to victory on the main court?

The Trinidad and Tobago duo will relish the Red Bull Beach Arena, as well as the chance to ruin the fun of the home favorites Dressler/Kunert.

The loser knows that this match will be their last in the tournament, while the victor will have another chance to shine – and it’s that prize that will undoubtedly make this tense contest one to watch.

Who? Pavan/Humana-Paredes v Barbara/Fernanda

Where? Red Bull Beach Arena

When? 3.30pm CET

Why? The women’s first full elimination phase has thrown up some belting ties, but arguably none are more exciting than this Canada v Brazil clash.

The seventh v eighth seeds lock horns with Pavan/Humana-Paredes coming off the back of a near-perfect record, winning all three of their matches without dropping a set.

Barbara/Fernanda meanwhile had to do things the hard way, finishing third in Pool H, though they do boast the strongest win of the competition to date in terms of points, defeating Vanessa Muianga and Liocadia Manhica 21-4 21-6.

Who? Schützenhöfer/Schwaiger v Betschart/Hüberli

Where? Red Bull Beach Arena

When? 4.30pm CET

Why? After Canada v Brazil, don’t leave your seats because there will be another belter of a last-32 match to come in the shape of an all European battle.

Austrian fans are sure to make the noise as Katharina Schützenhöfer and Stefanie Schwaiger unleash themselves on Red Bull Beach Arena, fresh off three gruelling matches that took them to second place in Pool L.

With two matches longer than 55 minutes, they’ve had plenty of court experience, but Swiss opponents Nina Betschart and Tanja Hüberli currently boast an unbreakable winning record.

It’s 12th v 10th when it comes to seedings, though these two also met back in the Fort Lauderdale Major in February when the Austrians took a 22-20, 28-26 win.

Who? Fendrick/Ross v Branagh/Day

Where? Side Court 3

When? 5.30pm CET

Why? Compatriot bragging rights, a place in the last 16 and the honor of their country – everything is on the line when Lauren Fendrick and April Ross take on Nicole Branagh and Emily Day.

This all-American showdown is one that captivate and entertain in equal measure, with this also having the extra edge of being the first meeting between the two pairs.

Only top seeds Larissa/Talita got the better of Branagh and Day in pool play, and with their counterparts yet to lose a game in the competition, both teams are in top form so far.
