The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships presented by A1 – DONE!
Un-be-lievable! And just like that the biggest and loudest beach volleyball tournament in history was done and dusted.
Weeks in beach volleyball flash by in the blink of an eye and it’s hard to think two weeks ago we were about to embark on one of the best tournaments the world has ever seen.
In total 48 men’s and 48 women’s teams from 40 nations from around the globe went head-to-head for a share of one million US Dollars in prize money.
A total crowd of almost 170,000 fans flocked to the Danube Island over the 10 days that saw two new world champions crowd.
Our congratulations go to Olympic heroes Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst on adding the world title to their incredible list of achievements in the past 12 months, while hats off to Brazilian stars Evandro and Andre – who, at 22, became the youngest world champ.
For us though, the ever-lasting memory will be witnessing thousands and thousands of fans who made Red Bull Beach Arena rock throughout the 10 days – helped, of course, by the brilliant performance of home heroes Clemens Doppler and Alex Horst who clinched a superb silver medal.
Thank you to everyone involved – players, coaches, fans, referees, members of the media and, especially our brilliant army of over 150 volunteers! Remember if you have any feedback from the tournament, we love to hear from you. We want to make future tournaments even better, so head to our event page and leave a review.
Thank you Vienna!
